General Job Responsibilities:  

• Diagnose, treat and manage a wide range of ocular conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. 
• Conduct routine and specialized eye exams. 
• Perform ophthalmic surgeries, such as cataract removal, LASIK, corneal transplants and other eye-related procedures. 
• Provide patient education about eye conditions, treatment options, preventive care and post-operative care instructions. 
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans. 
• Respond to ophthalmic emergencies and provide immediate treatment or referral, if necessary. 
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.

Minimum Education Requirements:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. 
• Residency training program in ophthalmology accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

License & Certifications:  

• Board certification in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) or the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology (AOBO). 
• Active and unrestricted medical license in Nevada.

Experience:  

• While specific requirements may vary, most locum ophthalmology positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
