Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Monitoring

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in infrastructure engineering concepts, along with 5+ years of applied experience.
• We need strong experience with enterprise operating systems such as Linux and/or Windows, including administration, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and operational best practices in regulated production environments.
• We expect proven hands-on delivery and operation of enterprise-scale infrastructure monitoring solutions across Linux, Windows, and/or network estates.
• We need a solid grasp of observability and telemetry concepts, including metrics, logs, and events, with experience using OpenTelemetry collection patterns and integrating telemetry into downstream components.
• We require proficiency in automation and engineering practices, including scripting and development with Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and/or Bash, plus CI/CD-driven workflows for controlled, secure, repeatable change management.
• We look for broad infrastructure experience across hardware platforms, operating systems, networking, storage, and databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, and Cassandra, including deployment patterns, integration architectures, scaling, resiliency, and performance assessment.
• We need experience implementing infrastructure-as-code and configuration management practices with tools such as Terraform to support standardized provisioning and repeatable deployments.
• We expect hands-on experience in hybrid infrastructure environments, including enterprise on-premises platforms and public/private cloud, with familiarity supporting and migrating monitoring capabilities across cloud boundaries.
• We value demonstrated ability to improve monitoring signal quality through baselining, threshold strategy, noise reduction, enrichment, and topology/context alignment.
• We require experience developing, reviewing, debugging, and maintaining secure, high-quality production code and platform configurations, including automation that supports monitoring platforms and platform operations.
• Preferred: hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring platforms such as SCOM, Tivoli, SMARTS, IBM Instana, DX NetOps, ITNM, and Netcool Suite.
• Preferred: experience with modern observability ecosystems such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, and Prometheus, including telemetry integration, routing, and visualization patterns.
• Preferred: experience with Kubernetes, such as EKS, for container orchestration and operations.
• Preferred: experience with topology-driven monitoring and correlation approaches for large-scale infrastructure environments.
• Preferred: knowledge of Event Management and AIOps workflows, including noise reduction, anomaly detection, probable cause analysis, and guided remediation with appropriate controls.

• We engineer, operate, and continuously improve our infrastructure monitoring platforms to maintain availability, performance, scalability, and security.
• We build and support enterprise-grade monitoring capabilities across Linux, Windows, and complex network estates, including platform onboarding and lifecycle management.
• We design and implement platform services, integrations, and telemetry collection across metrics, logs, and events, including OpenTelemetry collection patterns where applicable.
• We develop and maintain standardized onboarding patterns such as agents or collectors, configurations, dashboards, and alert policies to accelerate safe adoption at scale.
• We improve monitoring signal quality and usability through baselining, threshold strategy, noise reduction, enrichment, and topology/context alignment.
• We develop secure, high-quality automation and production code, and review, debug, and enhance code and configuration written by others.
• We automate platform operations and reduce toil through scripting, CI/CD-driven configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code deployment patterns.
• We manage production health for the monitoring platform by leading triage, performing root cause analysis, and delivering preventive engineering and resilience improvements.
• We partner with infrastructure, application, and SRE teams to align platform capabilities to SLIs, SLOs, operational readiness, and continuous improvement goals.
