Benefits Account Manager

Job DescriptionThe Account Manager (AM) is responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong, professional relationships with clients by delivering exceptional customer service and ongoing support. This role manages an assigned book of business consisting of fully insured and level-funded clients, ensuring their benefit programs align with organizational needs and expectations.As an AM you will build trust through responsiveness, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to client service. In addition to managing existing accounts, this position will support Agents in both new business development, the renewal process, contributing to overall growth, and client retention. Serving as a dedicated advocate, the AM will work closely with carriers and vendors to resolve issues and ensure a seamless experience for clients and their employees. This includes assisting with claims inquiries, billing discrepancies, and enrollment processes, while continuously expanding industry knowledge to better educate and support clients.Key Responsibilities & Core CompetenciesServe as the primary contact for clients, producers, and carriers, delivering exceptional service and resolving issues related to claims, billing, and enrollmentLead the renewal and marketing process by gathering data, obtaining quotes, evaluating carrier options, and partnering with Producers to present strategic benefit recommendationsCalculate premiums, audit billing for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies while maintaining strong attention to detailDevelop open enrollment materials and conduct employee presentations with clear, effective communicationProcess enrollments and ensure smooth implementations or carrier transitions with strong organizational and time management skillsMaintain accurate client records and manage workflow efficiently, balancing multiple priorities and deadlinesStay current on carrier updates and regulatory changes, supporting client compliance and demonstrating adaptability in a dynamic environmentBuild and maintain strong carrier and client relationships with a collaborative, client-focused approachDemonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a proactive mindset, including participation in training and continuous process improvement initiativesExperience and Education:Preferred experience in employee benefits and account management insurance fieldAn understanding of employee benefits, regulations, and industry standardsPreferred experience with fully insured plansCommitment to continuous learning and professional developmentLicensing and Credentials:Active Life & Health License preferred or required with 90 daysSystems:Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookApplied Epic experience preferred, but knowledge of similar Account Management System (AMS) is acceptableRequirements:This is a full-time, in-office position requiring regular, onsite attendance with possible hybrid schedule after 6 months.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as neededFrequent use of visual acuity to review documents and computer screensRepetitive hand movements, including typing, writing, and use of office equipmentAbility to sit for extended periods, with occasional walking, bending, reaching, and stretching as part of daily tasksBenefits & Compensation:100% paid Medical and Life Insurance optionsOptional Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance, and 401K to all full-time employeesPTO and paid holidaysCompetitive Salary based on experience
