Cal State University (CSU) LA Posted: Mar 21, 2026 Education and Training Information Technology and Communication Services College: Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology (ECST) Position Title: 2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Computer Science Department of Computer Science Instructional Faculty - Part-time Temporary/Lecturer Pool Position Details The Computer Science Department in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a pool of part‑time faculty lecturers. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester of the 2026-2027 academic year. Hires are made when instructional needs arise, and initial appointments are typically for one semester, with possible renewal based on department needs, funding, and performance. Often appointments are made just prior to the start of the semester, so some faculty lecturers may need to be available on very short notice. Minimum Qualifications MS degree or higher in Computer Science or related field from an accredited university (bachelor’s degree may be considered with substantial relevant industry experience). Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level. Ability to relate well to others within an academic environment and demonstrate interest in a multi‑ethnic, multicultural setting. Demonstrated experience and commitment to student‑centered learning and teaching. Proficiency in written and oral use of the English language. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment. Relevant work experience and training. Appropriate doctoral or terminal degree. Duties Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are made by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean. Successful candidates must meet accreditation work requirements and commit to the academic success of all students in a diverse, inclusive environment. Salary Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary ranges for Lecturer levels (based on the 7/1/2024 schedule) are: Lecturer A/2: $5,507 – $6,677 per month Lecturer B/3: $6,221 – $13,224 per month Lecturer C/4: $6,825 – $14,523 per month Lecturer D/5: $8,593 – $15,211 per month The anticipated monthly hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Most new faculty lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
