Step into a meaningful role supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher. This contract position is for the first semester of the school year, with the possibility of extension should a permanent hire not be found. You’ll be working on-site from 8:30am to 3:30pm, providing targeted support to a 6th grade resource classroom and collaborating closely with staff to foster an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate special education endorsements
• Previous experience, preferably in a 6th–8th grade or middle school setting
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learner needs
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• A passion for supporting students with special needs
• Availability for the full semester, with flexibility in case of contract extension

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small group instruction to 6th grade students requiring special education services
• Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and coordinate student support
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Track, assess, and document progress towards student goals
• Participate in team meetings and communicate with families regarding student development
• Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
