Make an immediate impact in the lives of high school students as a Special Education Teacher working in a Cognitive Impairment classroom. This contract opportunity offers the chance to support and empower learners with unique needs while collaborating within an inclusive, caring educational environment. Two positions are available, starting as soon as possible and extending through June 10, 2027, for 37.5 hours per week.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Michigan Special Education teaching certification (must provide a verification screenshot from the Michigan Online Educator Certification System)
• Experience or strong interest in working with students in a Cognitive Impairment setting at the high school level
• Deep knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies tailored for special populations
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational abilities to manage documentation and compliance responsibilities
• Ability to implement and monitor IEPs and adapt lessons to individualized student needs

Role Responsibilities:

• Create, modify, and deliver effective instructional materials for students with cognitive impairments, ensuring access to the curriculum
• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in partnership with families and support staff
• Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and adjust instruction as needed to promote growth and achievement
• Foster a classroom atmosphere that supports positive behaviors, mutual respect, and social-emotional learning
• Consult and collaborate with general educators, paraprofessionals, therapists, and administrators to support student success
• Advocate for student needs in interdisciplinary meetings and help guide all team members in best practices
