Make a meaningful impact supporting high school students in a Cognitive Impairment classroom through a rewarding contract position. This opportunity is ideal for dedicated Special Education Teachers with a passion for empowering learners and encouraging growth. There are two open positions, each offering the chance to work closely with an experienced team and contribute to a nurturing, student-focused environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid and active Michigan teaching license in Special Education (must provide a screenshot of credentials)
• Experience working with high school-aged students in a special education setting, especially those with cognitive impairments, strongly preferred
• In-depth knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and documentation best practices
• Skill in creating individualized learning plans and adapting curriculum materials to meet students’ specific needs
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork with support staff, families, and multidisciplinary professionals

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute lesson plans tailored to students’ learning goals and cognitive abilities
• Build supportive, engaging classroom environments to foster independence, skill acquisition, and confidence
• Monitor progress, maintain thorough records, and adjust instructional strategies to maximize student achievement
• Collaborate with parents, therapists, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of care and educational planning
• Participate in professional development and team meetings to stay current on best practices and compliance standards

This is a contract assignment beginning as soon as possible and extending through June 10, 2027, with a 37.5-hour workweek. You’ll have the satisfaction of guiding your students through important milestones and growth, supported by a collaborative, welcoming staff.
