Work Environment

This position is based onsite at our surgical center in Paterson, NJ, where our team addresses emergency situations and trauma cases. The role involves evening shifts starting at 5:00 PM, typically Monday through Friday, allowing for a consistent 40-hour work week. The fast-paced nature of our emergency department requires adaptability, swift decision-making, and a compassionate approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond swiftly to trauma alerts, assessing and prioritizing patients' conditions in critical situations.
• Stabilize patients experiencing severe medical emergencies, administering immediate care to prevent further deterioration.
• Assist in resuscitation efforts, collaborating closely with nursing staff and physicians to provide crucial life-saving interventions.
• Conduct thorough physical examinations and analyze diagnostic results, integrating findings into the overall care plan.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while ensuring adherence to best practices in medication management.
• Perform invasive procedures and manage wounds, ensuring patient comfort and adherence to safety protocols.
• Educate patients and their families on trauma care and recovery processes to facilitate understanding and cooperation during treatment.
• Coordinate the transfer of trauma patients to appropriate units or facilities, ensuring continuity of care and proper documentation.
• Monitor patients' pain levels and manage discomfort effectively, utilizing both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including surgical staff and specialists, to enhance patient outcomes and care continuity.
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols in all clinical settings.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Emergency Department at Trinity Medical serves a diverse population with a variety of acute medical needs. You will care for patients of all ages, from minors with traumatic injuries to adults requiring complex medical interventions. This role demands a high level of empathy and proficiency in trauma care, as you will often be one of the first healthcare providers to engage with patients in critical situations.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field, followed by completion of an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program.
• Current New Jersey state licensure as a Physician Assistant and certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Minimum of two years of relevant experience in emergency medicine or trauma care.
• Strong clinical acumen, including the ability to perform trauma assessments and stabilization protocols.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in high-pressure settings.
• Proficient in documenting patient care activities in electronic medical records.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and certifications related to trauma care.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a surgical or trauma center environment.
• Familiarity with trauma-specific medications and therapeutic interventions.
• Ability to perform trauma-related procedures under supervision with a focus on patient safety.
• A proven track record of effective teamwork in high-stakes situations.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 140,000 to 180,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
