LOCATION: New York, NY (Hybrid)

COMP PACKAGE: Base salary up to $200k, bonus, 401(k), comprehensive medical/dental/vision coverage, PTO, and additional firm-sponsored benefits.

 

Summary for Senior Manager of Legal Project Management:

We’re seeking a Senior Manager of Legal Project Management to join a highly visible team at a globally recognized law firm. This role is ideal for a strategic and collaborative professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys partnering with attorneys and firm leadership to drive successful client outcomes. You’ll oversee complex legal matters, enhance project delivery and profitability, and play a key role in building and growing the firm’s Legal Project Management function.

 

Responsibilities for Senior Manager of Legal Project Management:

• Lead the planning, execution, and management of complex legal matters by developing project plans, budgets, timelines, and communication strategies.
• Partner with attorneys and clients to define matter scope, objectives, staffing needs, and key milestones while ensuring successful project delivery.
• Manage budgets, legal spend tracking, alternative fee arrangements, and profitability analysis in collaboration with pricing and finance teams.
• Monitor matter progress, identify risks or bottlenecks, and implement solutions to keep projects on schedule and aligned with client expectations.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop Legal Project Managers through coaching, performance management, workload balancing, and professional development.
• Create and enhance project management templates, playbooks, workflows, and best practices to improve efficiency and consistency across the firm.
• Support the evaluation and implementation of legal technology solutions while providing training and change management initiatives for attorneys and staff.

 

Qualifications for Senior Manager of Legal Project Management:

• Bachelor’s degree required; JD or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 6+ years of legal project management, legal operations, or practice management experience within a law firm environment.
• Prior experience managing or mentoring a team, including performance management and professional development responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience managing legal budgets, alternative fee arrangements (AFAs), financial reporting, and profitability analysis.
• Strong knowledge of legal project management methodologies and experience handling complex, high-value matters.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal technology platforms, matter management systems, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools is preferred.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and build trusted relationships across all levels of the firm.
