What you will be doing POSITION SUMMARY: The Moore Lab is a new translational research group at the Orthopedic Soft Tissue Research (OSTR) Program of the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). The Moore Lab focuses on improving recovery from orthopedic soft tissue injuries using biomaterials and drug delivery approaches. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team of surgeons, scientists and engineers, in a project aiming to develop of biomaterials to modulate pro-fibrotic signaling after musculoskeletal injuries. Qualified candidates must have a recent Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, materials science, chemistry, molecular and cellular biology or a related field. Candidates are expected to have at least one peer-reviewed high quality first author publication and should be highly motivated and productive. Good written/oral communication skills in English, and experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques (e.g., flow cytometry, RNA isolation, protein analysis methods), rodent models, biomechanical analyses and cell culture/in vitro models are highly desirable. Research Institute Benefit Postdoctoral Program Postdoctoral Fellows are supported either by grants and contracts, training grants, departmental funds, external Fellowships, or by a combination of these sources. Minimum salary or stipend levels for Postdoctoral Fellows are set by Research Administration in consultation with Human Resources, the NIH salary scale for Kirschstein-NRSA institutional training grants and individual fellowship awards, and comparable salaries at other academic institutions, and may be modified from time to time. The minimum salary for an incoming postdoctoral fellow at HSS is $71,564. Housing Assistance- To assist with housing costs, Research Administration provides a subsidy of up to $500/month for up to four years based on eligibility criteria. Relocation costs may be reimbursed depending on distance up to a maximum of $2,000. Travel expenses up to $2,000 per year are provided to participate in a scientific conference where the Fellow presents a poster and/or talk. Retirement Savings Plan / Voluntary 403(b):The Retirement Savings Plan/403(b) is a defined contribution (DC) retirement plan. In a DC plan, there is an individual account to which contributions are made. The Postdoctoral Fellow decides how those contributions are invested by choosing among the fund options available under the plan.The 403(b) Plan allows a Fellow to contribute to retirement savings through pre-tax payroll deductions, which is $23,000 in 2024. HSS will make a contribution equal to 4% of the Fellow's eligible compensation to the Fellow’s retirement under the Retirement Savings Plan. Transit Benefit: Eligible employees can pay for part or all of their commute (MetroCard and TransitCheck) and parking costs with pre-tax contributions through TransitCenter.
