Intellectual Property Docketing Specialist

Kelly IP, LLP, an innovative boutique law firm in Washington, DC, has a position open for a full-time Trademark Docketing Specialist. Kelly IP prefers candidates who can work in the office on a hybrid schedule; however, a remote opportunity is available for an exceptional candidate. The Docketing Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely global docket records and supporting the firm's trademark/copyright prosecution and enforcement matters. Key responsibilities include: Docketing new trademark application filings. Reviewing, analyzing, and processing incoming correspondence from: United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Clients Foreign associates and counsel regarding trademark prosecution and dispute matters In addition, the Docketing Specialist will: Accurately enter and maintain data in the firm's docketing database (WebTMS). Assist with the intake and setup of new clients and matters. Generate customized docketing reports as requested. Review and clear docket entries on a daily basis, including issuing reminders and follow-up notifications as necessary. Keep up-to-date with changes in docketing best practices. Monitor deadlines and help ensure compliance with filing and response requirements. Notify attorneys of final deadline reminders Perform other administrative and docketing-related duties as assigned. Only candidates with at least 5 years of experience as a Docketing Specialist will be considered. Experience with trademark-specific docketing strongly preferred. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience using WebTMS. Qualified candidates will have top notch organizational skills, keen attention to detail, the abilities to multi-task, prioritize and work independently along with a mastery of basic office skills and trademark-specific systems (USPTO, TTAB, WebTMS) and a thorough knowledge of the USPTO’s trademark practices and procedures.
