Work Environment\nThis position is designed to be primarily remote, allowing for flexibility while maintaining regular contact with students and faculty. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, although evening shifts and rotating weekends may be required. On-call availability is also a necessity to handle urgent mental health situations that may arise. You will play a key role in our community health clinic, which houses a variety of healthcare professionals dedicated to the well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Conduct detailed mental health assessments for students, analyzing their personal histories and current concerns to identify risk factors and formulate appropriate interventions. \n
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans collaboratively with students, focusing on targeted therapeutic goals that promote emotional health and academic success. \n
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, employing diverse methodologies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care. \n
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions aimed at enhancing emotional regulation skills, coping strategies, and personal growth. \n
- Work closely with other mental health professionals, including psychiatrists and psychologists, to ensure a cohesive approach to treatment. \n
- Provide crisis intervention support during mental health emergencies, utilizing de-escalation techniques and connecting students to necessary resources. \n
- Educate students and their families about mental health issues, treatment options, and available community resources, promoting a greater understanding of mental health and well-being. \n
- Maintain precise and confidential documentation relating to assessments, treatment plans, and progress, complying with legal and ethical standards. \n
- Participate actively in team meetings and staff development initiatives to share insights and enhance collective knowledge of best practices in school mental health. \n
- Stay informed on current legislation, regulations, and ethical guidelines relevant to mental health practice within educational contexts. \n
The primary focus will be on our diverse student population, which encompasses various backgrounds, learning styles, and mental health challenges. As part of the School Mental Health Team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with students from different age groups, building lasting relationships that support their overall development and well-being within the school community.
Qualifications\n- \n
- A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution is required. \n
- Current and valid LCSW licensure in New York state. \n
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience, preferably in a mental health or educational setting. \n

- Proficient in conducting mental health evaluations and formulating effective treatment strategies. \n
- Experience in providing both individual and group therapy, demonstrating versatility in therapeutic techniques. \n

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with students, families, and staff. \n
While not mandatory, experience in a school-based mental health setting or familiarity with educational frameworks can greatly enhance a candidate's effectiveness in this role.
