Feeser's provides an expansive offering of dry, refrigerated, and frozen products to a diverse customer base comprised of restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and other institutions.Role SummaryThis role reports directly to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for day-to-day accounting activities including supporting the closing cycle, fixed asset management, inventory control management, rebates and payroll accounting, internal controls, and policy and procedure maintenance.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirementsAssist in managing the month-end close checklist including ensuring all activities are completed timely and routine updates are reflected for new activities or changes to existing activitiesManage the Company's existing accounting policies and procedures and draft new policies, where neededAlong with the Accounting Manager, assist with the enforcement of internal controls in order to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflowsLead the fixed asset process by recording acquisitions and disposals, maintaining asset records, calculating depreciation, reconciling the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger, and ensuring compliance with company accounting policies.Maintains journal entry closing checklist and ensures required documentation exists to support all journal entries, calculations, and account reconciliationsAssist in tax planning for all Feeser's entities incorporating any changes to existing tax regulations and Company operations/projectsAdminister customer rebate programs, including calculating monthly, quarterly, and annual rebates, reconciling balances, and preparing supporting reports. Coordinate with the sales team to ensure compliance with rebate agreements and timely payment processing.Act as the lead back-up to vendor rebate management, billing, and accountingPerform monthly and quarterly reconciliation of investment accounts, ensuring balances, earnings, transactions, and valuations are accurately recorded and reconciled to statements and the general ledger.Assists in the preparation and coordination of the external compilation process by providing key reports and reconciliations to the independent accountantsConduct training within the organization to upskill workforce on key accounting and financial matters and metrics most relevant to each department's responsibilitiesStay up-to-date on latest accounting pronouncements and disseminate to relevant Company personnelConducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization's accounting processes and proceduresPerforms other duties as assigned by Accounting Manager, which may include lease administration, inventory cost analysis, administration of capital approval process, and G/L account setup and maintenanceSkills RequiredCommitment and practices high level of ethical and confidentiality standards, professionalism, and communication for long-term success.Knowledgeable of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards and regulationsProficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel including advanced proficiency in Excel, including the use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, and data analysis toolsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present financial data clearly and conciselyQualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting (required)5+ years professional experience in accounting, auditing, or tax (required)Experience as a user of an ERP system (preferred)CPA license or actively pursuing licensure (preferred)Feeser's Food Distributors is an equal opportunity employer.
