Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting students with visual impairments in a district-based role in the Denver area. As a specialist, you’ll collaborate with educators and families, guiding young learners from early childhood through high school. This assignment spans the 2026–2027 academic year, with a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week, onsite at various district locations. Preference will be given to those holding both TVI and O&M certifications, though O&M is not required.

Qualifications:

• Active Colorado Department of Education certification, endorsed for “Special Education Specialist – Visual Impairment (ages 0-21)”
• Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in special education visual impairment or equivalent as recognized by the state
• Experience with vision-related assessments, the Expanded Core Curriculum, and IEP development
• Willingness to complete district background check and fingerprinting
• Strong commitment to complete the full school year
• O&M certification preferred but not required

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct and interpret functional vision and core curriculum assessments for a diverse age group (birth–21)
• Develop and implement individualized education programs tailored for students with visual impairments
• Provide direct instruction and support, including orientation and mobility services within community and school settings
• Adapt classroom environments and materials to enhance access and individualized development
• Regularly collaborate with parents, faculty, and district teams to share progress and ensure compliance
• Maintain accurate records and align practices with district priorities
• Other duties as assigned based on school and district needs
