We are looking for a Billing Clerk to support medical billing and collections activities for our team in New Jersey. This position is ideal for someone who can balance accurate payment processing with responsive patient communication regarding billing questions and outstanding balances. The role requires strong administrative skills, comfort working with billing systems and Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to maintain organized records in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and process medical billing records with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.

• Contact patients to discuss account balances, answer billing-related questions, and follow up on unpaid amounts.

• Maintain up-to-date account information through consistent data entry and documentation practices.

• Assist with collection activities by tracking receivables and supporting resolution of overdue accounts.

• Review billing details for completeness and help address claim or payment discrepancies when identified.

• Use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and billing software to manage correspondence, records, and daily workflow.

• Provide attentive customer service while handling sensitive financial information and patient interactions.

• Support medical appeals-related tasks as needed by gathering information and helping organize required documentation.

• At least 1 year of experience in medical billing, medical collections, or a closely related healthcare billing role.
• Working knowledge of private pay billing processes and patient account follow-up.
• Experience communicating with patients about balances, payment questions, and billing concerns.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong data entry skills with close attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to deliver courteous customer service in an office or healthcare setting with close attention to detail.
• Familiarity with medical appeals processes is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple billing tasks efficiently.
