About the Position

Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Passing a skills exam during orientation is mandatory. Description: This position is for a registered nurse in a fast-paced stepdown care unit. The nurse will care for adult and geriatric patients with complex diagnoses, including cardiac conditions, nephrology issues, strokes, and diabetes. The nurse will also be responsible for continuous EEG monitoring. Ratios on the unit are 1:4-5. The nurse will titrate drips and will work with a variety of medications such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications. There will be a charge nurse on each shift, who will not take an assignment. Nurse aides or patient care technicians will support the unit with a typical ratio of 1:10 or 2:20. Shifts are from 0630 to 1900 or 1830 to 0700. Weekend work is required every other weekend, and holiday work is required every third holiday. There is no on-call or standby requirement. Floating may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehabilitation. RTO needs to be submitted upfront, with a limit of 7 days for the duration of the contract. The hospital has a cancellation policy allowing the cancellation of up to 4 shifts for assignments of 13 weeks or more. The charting system used is EPIC. A positive attitude, strong communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities will contribute to the success of the nurse in this role.
