This role will lead a high-performing team responsible for outreach, recruitment, examinations, hiring, and the Career Executive Assignment (CEA) and Exempt appointment processes. About The Role As the Supervisor II, you will provide strategic direction, guide subordinate supervisors, and serve as a trusted advisor to executives and senior leadership on complex and sensitive personnel matters. You will drive department-wide process improvements, develop policies and procedures, deliver training, oversee key audits and reports, and contribute to the department’s strategic goals. What You’ll Lead Oversight of outreach, recruitment, examinations, and executive appointment programs Supervision and development of TAERS supervisors and staff Preparation of high-level, confidential reports for executive decision-making Representation of CDTFA at conferences, stakeholder meetings, and control agency engagements Support for complex, high-visibility HR projects, including classification specification revisions Monitoring workload, performance metrics, and compliance across key HR functions We Are Seeking a Collaborative, Solutions-oriented Leader Who Excels at managing people and programs Understands statewide HR laws, rules, and merit-based selection Can navigate sensitive, confidential, and high-stakes personnel issues Communicates effectively with executives, staff, and external partners Drives innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement Thrives in a role with high visibility and organizational impact Special Requirements Travel may be required ten percent (10%) of the time.
