Kitchen Supervisor
Salary Range $15.66 - $20.00 Hourly Position Type Full Time Regular Job Shift Day Category Food Service
Schedule/Hours: 40 hours a week
This position is responsible for:
Planning, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating the day-to-day operations of a kitchen; serving as a lead worker to kitchen staff by instructing and participating in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules; ensuring all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner; supervising and participating in the cleaning of kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances ensuring compliance with health standards; monitoring the inventory of kitchen supplies and food ensuring adequate levels of the same are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises and participates in the cleaning, cooking, and preparing of a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies in accordance with established Salvation Army policies and procedures and economical cooking methods.
- Oversees and monitors kitchen stock inventory to meet the needs of the kitchen; orders, receives, and processes food purchases; verifies that invoices are accurate and submits for further processing.
- Plans menus and purchases food and supplies necessary for the preparation and serving of nutritional meals.
- Develops, manages, and works within a budget for purchasing food and all other kitchen supplies; submits invoices for processing.
- Maintains a high degree of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining room; ensures that all meals are prepared in a safe manner; ensures all kitchen personnel practice proper personal hygiene.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to successfully cook, taste and smell food.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to servings and cooking instructions.

What We Are Looking For In You:
Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent, and Three years' experience planning, purchasing, and cooking meals for large groups with one year experience working in a supervisory capacity, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be cleared by Local Law Enforcement, State of Florida Dept of Children and Families and FBI background screens.
Licenses and Certifications: Florida Food Handlers Certificate. Valid State Driver's License. Employee must be cleared through FBI fingerprinting, FDLE criminal check, and credit checks.
