Accounts Payable Clerk

This team member must reside within 40 miles of the Blue River PetCare corporate office (1 S. Wacker Dr., Chicago, IL 60606) to work a hybrid schedule. The Accounts Payable Clerk performs accounting and clerical tasks for Blue River PetCare clinics across the country, compiling, processing and maintaining accounts payable records. Review and verify invoices and check requests Sort, code, and match invoices Set up and enter invoices and expense reports for payment into accounting system Post daily cash receipts and deposits on Excel spreadsheets Monitor accounts for multiple locations to ensure payments are current Research and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies and issues with vendors and dispute issues for the company Create and reconcile consolidated vendor statements and spreadsheets Update and maintain vendor database and accounting spreadsheets Maintain vendor information, including W9s and 1099 tax preparation and related issues Prepare and pay sales tax across multiple locations Assist with administrative and clerical tasks Other duties and projects as assigned Requirements Excellent attention to detail required Proactive problem-solving skills are essential Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment Must be flexible and willing to assist with tasks where needed Technical Skills Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is a plus Education Requirements Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred Physical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery Frequently communicates with managers at remote locations using email and phone; must be able to exchange clear, accurate information in these situations Occasionally move equipment and supplies weighing up to 15 pounds Frequently communicates and collaborates with co-workers in the office Salary Range: $21-24 per hour This position may be eligible to participate in the Company's incentive bonus program, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable bonus plan.
