Lead Software Engineer - AWS Resiliency - Plano

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Hands-on experience with AWS architectures and disaster recovery services, including AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery, AWS Backup, and multi-AZ or multi-region deployments
• Proficiency in at least one modern language, such as Python, Go, or Bash, and familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• At least 5 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, disaster recovery planning, or distributed systems engineering
• Experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and compliance with resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• Demonstrated proficiency with software applications and technical processes in a technical discipline, such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile
• Preferred: In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems
• Preferred: Practical cloud-native experience

• Lead and coordinate end-to-end disaster recovery tests and real-time failover events across the product portfolio, enabling effective collaboration between teams
• Develop and maintain resiliency frameworks that development and infrastructure teams can use through automated offerings and repeatable patterns
• Define and monitor recovery time and recovery point objectives for product components, tracking metrics to identify architectural and procedural gaps
• Partner with application teams to automate disaster recovery provisioning, scaling, configuration, and monitoring using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Lead resiliency testing and chaos engineering with tools such as AWS Fault Injection Service and AWS Resilience Hub to uncover vulnerabilities before they affect production
• Work with SREs to strengthen detection, assess application resilience, and configure proactive CloudWatch alerts
• Establish, maintain, and execute disaster recovery playbooks and recovery runbooks, including careful mapping of sequences and dependencies
• Collect, govern, and report disaster recovery test artifacts, audit trails, and resilience maturity scores to demonstrate compliance with internal and regulatory standards
• Promote enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish validation standards and encourage reuse of effective patterns
• Apply software development lifecycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation
