Business Development Specialist

Join our team as the Business Development Specialist and take full ownership of building the top of the commercial funnel for a specialized infrastructure product line. Reporting directly to an experienced Business Development Manager, you will research markets, identify and qualify opportunities, engage customers and support complex project pursuits, and set the foundation that drives long-term pipeline growth across North America.

This role is ideal for a curious, organized and self-motivated professional who has experience in B2B sales, business development, engineering, construction, transportation or project coordination, and who wants hands-on exposure to technical consultative selling, as well as a clear path toward business development management with a stable and growing global manufacturer.

Business Development Specialist What You Will Do

• Research prospective customers, transportation agencies, projects, market trends and competitors to identify and develop qualified opportunities
• Generate leads and schedule customer conversations through outbound prospecting via phone, email, LinkedIn and industry networks
• Shadow senior business development colleagues and progressively lead selected calls and follow-up activities as product knowledge develops
• Support territory plans, customer presentations, market analyses, business cases, proposal submissions and sales materials
• Maintain consistent follow-up across long-lead opportunities to advance pipeline and sustain customer engagement
• Keep CRM records accurate and current, including contacts, activities, opportunities, next steps and pipeline status
• Participate in customer meetings, site visits, trade shows, conferences and industry events, with travel up to 25%

Business Development Specialist What You Bring

• 3 to 5 years of experience in B2B sales, business development, engineering, construction, transportation, project coordination or a related customer-facing role; strong candidates closer to 2 years will be considered
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management, Communications or a related field preferred; relevant experience may offset the degree preference
• Strong research, prospecting, written and verbal communication, presentation and organizational skills
• Experience with Salesforce or another CRM platform; working knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams
• Curiosity, adaptability, initiative and willingness to learn a complex technical product in a collaborative, long-cycle selling environment
• Transportation infrastructure, consulting engineering, highway construction, roadway safety, managed lanes or related market experience is preferred but not required

Business Development Specialist The Perks

• Base salary of $85,000 to $105,000
• Minimum 6.5% bonus opportunity
