GENERAL PURPOSE Responsible for managing day-to-day sales activities as well as educating and training the sales team. Responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic Sales and Marketing Plans and initiatives that maximize profitability for the hotel and restaurant in order to achieve budget, revenue and market share targets. In addition to overseeing the department, the incumbent will be responsible for selling and promoting rooms and function spaces to current and potential customers. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Managing day-to-day sales activities, plan and assign work, and establish performance and development goals for team members in order to achieve or exceed individual and team sales goals and hotel budgets. Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict, improve team member performance, and recognize good performance. Developing and maintaining positive relationships with peers, competitors and brand partners. Educate, train and motivate sales department personnel to realize their potential and develop individuals for advancement. Sales team is responsible for developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and implementing sales strategies. Ensure sales team is utilizing tools available to them. Develop and maintain effective sales strategies, sales materials and current product knowledge. Establish and maintain current client and potential client relationships. Prepare a variety of status reports, including activity, production, follow-up, and adherence to goals. Responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic Sales and Marketing Plans and initiatives that maximize profitability for the hotel in order to achieve budget, revenue and market share targets. Monthly rooms forecasting and being involved with catering forecasting. Preparing and communicating month end financial statements and documents for management and ownership visits, presentations and conference calls. Developing and implementing effective sales strategies to maximize revenue generation. Creating and managing Annual Strategic Plan. Seeking new customers through strategic outbound sales efforts and conducting sales calls to key accounts or major prospects. Monitoring sales activities/performance to ensure revenue goals meet or exceed established plan and accurately reporting variance/projections to management. Using Revenue Management resources to help make informed decisions and maximize revenue. Adjusting strategy based on competitive market and market segment knowledge. Recruiting the best possible sales team and reducing turnover through coaching, counseling and training. Training and empowering sales team members to exercise good judgment to make profitable business decisions. Knowledgeable of comp sets marketing activities. Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY DUTIES Direct supervision of 2-5 Sales team members. Job Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience as a sales leader in a hotel environment required. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Working knowledge of hotel sales, service, policies or operations. Extensive knowledge of forecasting sales and interpreting/analyzing results to plan and conducting budgetary analysis. Extensive knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, recruiting, supervising, training and motivating managers. Demonstrated ability to understand customer requirements and translating these into sales solutions. Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills including follow up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and DELPHI.
