Job Description & Requirements Specialty: CVICU Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/28/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days, nights, flexible, rotating Employment Type: Travel Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) – Wisconsin Start Date: September 28, 2026 Location: Wisconsin Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Day or Night (0700-1930 or 1900-0730), every other weekend required, some holidays, no call Highlights: Dynamic 27-bed Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic ICU at a Magnet-designated, nationally ranked teaching facility Specialized care for cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical patients including CABG, valve repair/replacement, LVAD, and transplant cases Patient ratios of 1-2 patients (occasionally 3 for lower acuity general care patients when resources are limited) Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation provided Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and dedicated unit secretaries Two Care Team Leader charge nurses and one Rapid Response Nurse support direct patient care staff each shift Requirements: Active Wisconsin RN license or compact state license Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications Minimum 2 years of recent acute care RN experience in CVICU specialty Prior travel nursing experience required CVICU experience required; Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area experience strongly preferred Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required Trauma Level I experience required Epic charting system experience required Must pass telemetry examination prior to start with strict passing criteria (100% identification of lethal rhythms, 80% overall passing score) Patient ratio experience with 2-3 patients Proficiency in advanced CVICU skills including CRRT, IABP, Impella, LVAD, post-cardiac surgery care, pulmonary artery line monitoring, ventricular assist devices, and ventilator management Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only) Why It's a Great Opportunity: Join an elite cardiovascular team at a Magnet-designated facility recognized as the state's top-ranked hospital and one of the nation's premier teaching and referral centers.
