Position Overview

St. Elara Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic team in Somerset, New Jersey. This full-time role offers the opportunity to provide personalized care to older adults within our affiliated Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs). As a PTA, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our residents' mobility and overall quality of life through tailored rehabilitation programs.

Work Environment

Your role will be primarily onsite, engaging directly with residents in assisted living facilities. Unlike traditional clinical settings, our approach eliminates the barriers of waiting rooms and rushed appointments, allowing you to build meaningful connections with each resident. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, supporting a healthy work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement individualized treatment plans as designed by licensed Physical Therapists, focusing particularly on orthopedic recovery and mobile enhancement tailored to the unique needs of elderly patients.
• Provide empathetic care with unwavering attention to detail, ensuring that every resident feels valued and supported during their rehabilitation journey.
• Regularly monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment methods as necessary, and actively report findings to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Engage in a multidisciplinary team approach to provide coordinated care, collaborating seamlessly with other healthcare providers involved in the residents' well-being.
• Foster strong and trusting relationships with residents, caregivers, and facility staff to create a supportive and therapeutic environment.
• Utilize a user-friendly mobile EMR system to maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and progress.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The focus of your work will be within assisted living environments, where you will support elderly residents who require rehabilitation services. Many of our residents may be recovering from surgeries such as hip or knee replacements, strokes, or other health-related challenges that affect their mobility. Understanding their unique backgrounds, emotional needs, and health conditions will be central to your practice.

Qualifications

• Must possess an active New Jersey PTA license, ensuring compliance with state regulations and standards.
• A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required to provide a strong foundation in physical therapy principles.
• A genuine passion for promoting the independence and dignity of older adults and a commitment to enhancing their quality of life.
• Strong communication abilities are essential to effectively collaborate with both patients and the clinical team.
• Time management and adaptability will be important skills as you work independently and as part of the broader healthcare team.

Preferred Experience

• At least 2 years of relevant experience in outpatient therapy, geriatrics, homecare, or within ALFs/SNFs is preferred.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams, providing exposure to various aspects of patient care.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from $60,000 to $75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with performance-based bonus potential.
