Operates radio consoles for four area offices, resident posts, scale facilities and Freeway Service Patrol; answers 9-1-1 cellular, allied agencies, and general public telephone lines using the Vesta telephone system; documents information from the calls and/or officers in the field using a computer aided dispatch (CAD) system.

Border Communications Center is located in San Diego and is on a 3/12 alternate work week schedule with seniority shifts and vacation sign-ups.

The CHP utilizes their own Public Safety Dispatcher certification list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Public Safety Dispatcher classification to be eligible to take the examination.
