Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist

Seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist, this full-time independent contractor position offers a 100% remote work environment and focuses on managing payroll processing, vendor payments, and compliance for a US-based service business. Key responsibilities Prepare and reconcile monthly payroll summaries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax filings Review and process vendor invoices and disbursements while maintaining vendor records and tracking payment approvals Drive improvements across payroll systems and support year-end reporting and compliance activities Required qualifications 5+ years of senior experience in Payroll and Accounts Payable Expertise in US payroll, including hands-on experience with W-2s, 1099s, and K-1s Strong experience with payroll systems and maintaining accurate tax and state registration filings Proactive mindset with the ability to identify and resolve issues before they escalate Experience in professional services or start-up environments is preferred
