Client Development Manager

Overview A leading global professional services firm is seeking a Client Development Manager to support the growth and expansion of strategic client relationships across key markets. This role partners closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to strengthen client engagement, identify growth opportunities, and drive revenue-generating initiatives. The Client Development Manager will play a central role in advancing the organization's client growth strategy by fostering collaboration across practices, supporting institutional client relationships, and delivering data-driven insights that inform business decisions. This position also serves as a strategic liaison between client teams and internal business development and marketing functions. This role may be based in New York, Washington, DC, or San Francisco. Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of strategic client accounts, supporting initiatives that enhance growth, collaboration, and service delivery.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to develop and implement client strategies focused on expanding relationships and increasing engagement.
- Assist in creating and executing annual client development plans with measurable goals and timelines.
- Identify opportunities for cross-functional collaboration and support initiatives that broaden service offerings.
- Coordinate and participate in client team meetings, including agenda preparation, follow-up tracking, and action management.
- Conduct research and analysis on client business priorities, market trends, competitive activity, and key stakeholders.
- Maintain client dashboards and reporting tools by integrating internal and external data sources to monitor relationship health and growth opportunities.
- Prepare internal and client-facing reports related to financial performance, business development activity, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with marketing, business development, events, and operations teams to execute targeted client programs and proposals.
- Partner with internal teams such as pricing, innovation, client service, alumni relations, and pro bono initiatives to enhance client value.
- Support structured client feedback programs, including relationship reviews and post-engagement evaluations.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of client relationship materials, presentations, and strategic planning resources.
- Promote best practices and knowledge sharing related to client development strategies across the organization.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in business development, client development, or marketing within a professional services environment.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong project management, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams, business units, and geographic locations.
- Client-service mindset with flexibility, initiative, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
- Results-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Advanced stakeholder management and negotiation capabilities.
- Experience working within matrixed organizations preferred.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, client development processes, and business intelligence tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
