Allied Primary Health Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our growing orthopedic team in Laredo, Texas. This full-time position, located onsite in our hospital facility, offers a competitive salary between $140,000 and $180,000 annually, commensurate with experience. The chosen candidate will provide advanced medical care to orthopedic patients, working closely with a supervising orthopedic physician to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Work Environment

The position is set in a dynamic hospital environment in Laredo, Texas, where you will work Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime as needed. Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive advanced practitioner care primarily to orthopedic patients, including but not limited to diagnostic evaluations, therapeutic interventions, procedural assistance, and preventive care strategies.
• Conduct thorough patient examinations, develop diagnoses based on clinical assessments, and determine appropriate treatment plans. This includes effectively interpreting radiology reports and laboratory results.
• Document patient histories meticulously, write and manage prescriptions, order necessary therapies, and provide pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring continuity of care throughout the patient journey.
• Manage inpatient services and emergency referrals while maintaining excellent communication with the orthopedic team and other healthcare providers.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role directly impacts patients with orthopedic conditions, offering a broad spectrum of care across various stages of treatment—from initial diagnosis and surgical procedures to rehabilitation and follow-ups in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Your expertise will contribute to improving the quality of life for patients who often deal with complex pain management, mobility issues, and recovery challenges.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant, with an emphasis on orthopedic specialty care. A dedicated fellowship will also be considered.
• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program, holding a master’s degree or higher in the field.
• A valid and active State Licensed Physician Assistant designation.
• National certification as a Physician Assistant, with a DEA Certificate to be obtained within three months from the hire date.

Preferred Experience

• Recent experience in orthopedic procedures, including wound care and managing urgent community referrals.
• Ability to assist in surgical operations under direct supervision of the orthopedic surgeon, demonstrating skill and knowledge in clinical practices relevant to this specialty.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to maintain professional judgment while meeting patient needs.
• Proven organizational skills to effectively manage patient caseloads independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Capability to handle the emotional and physical demands of a busy hospital environment, maintaining composure under pressure.
