Job Description and Duties
Under general supervision of the Supervisor I, the Office Technician (OT) will be responsible for establishing clerical procedures and independently performing the more difficult clerical duties within the Unit. This position provides clerical services in support of the data collection and referral processes, supporting the public/educational partners and specifically coordinates the work output of the Constituent Support Services Unit.
Responsibilities include the preparation, mailing, and distribution of documents related to special education complaints; reviewing outgoing documents for compliance with department and unit guidelines; organizing and tracking various clerical tasks; providing support to unit staff; scanning and faxing documents; periodically answering division telephone calls; and other duties related to the responsibilities of the unit, as needed.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. Working Conditions
HYBRID
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.
Special Requirements
- The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.
- The position(s) require(s) fluency in the Spanish language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.
Office Technician (Typing) positions:
Copy of a valid typing certificate, issued within the last 4 years, indicating the ability to type at least 40 words per minute is required. Typing certification must be 5 minutes in length and proctored.The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) has approved certificates from the following entities:
