RN - Acute Care Surgery Unit Night Shift

Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care in a supportive environment that exemplifies best practices and outstanding customer service. This role fosters relationship-based care and upholds professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, Nursing Process, and regulatory agency requirements. Acute care settings include surgery units, medical units, emergency departments, intensive care, childbirth centers, pediatric units, operating rooms, and specialized procedural areas.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Effectively manage time and resources, prioritizing critical tasks while balancing short- and long-term goals.
• Apply clinical expertise to make appropriate patient care assignments based on acuity and technical needs.
• Engage in continuous learning and apply evidence-based practices to enhance workplace quality and cost efficiency.
• Deliver excellent patient and visitor relations, demonstrating respect, integrity, collaboration, empathy, and professionalism.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare teams to manage expectations and ensure positive experiences.
• Maintain a therapeutic environment by minimizing noise and supporting healthcare students and programs.
• Prioritize patient and workplace safety by adhering to national safety standards, HIPAA, and Just Culture principles.
• Participate actively in professional development, leadership opportunities, and nursing shared governance.
• Foster teamwork by motivating and guiding colleagues, encouraging cooperation, and providing mentorship.

Education and Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or equivalent with at least five years of acute care nursing experience if non-accredited.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire; enrollment in advanced degree programs accepted.
• Completion and maintenance of area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications.

Licensure:

Current active Registered Nurse license as required by the regional nursing board.

Work Shift:

Night shift, full-time (36 hours weekly).

This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving the Midwest United States.
