RVCS is a Montessori-based public charter school that values community, curiosity, independence, creativity, and the development of the whole child. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of child development, a passion for art education, and an appreciation for child-centered learning. Candidates should possess a basic understanding of Montessori philosophy and practices, or a willingness to learn and incorporate Montessori-inspired approaches into their teaching. This position is especially well-suited for an educator who values collaboration and professional growth. The Art Teacher will work closely with an experienced instructional mentor to develop curriculum, instructional practices, and learning strategies. Dedicated time is built into the schedule for regular mentor meetings, collaborative planning, and multiple check-ins throughout the year, ensuring ongoing support, reflection, and professional development. Job Requirements Experience teaching art to elementary-aged students, particularly Kindergarten through 3rd Grade. Commitment to educating the whole child through developmentally responsive practices. Basic understanding of Montessori philosophy and practices, or a willingness to learn and implement Montessori-inspired approaches. Experience integrating art instruction with classroom curriculum and thematic units. Flexible thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt instruction to meet student needs. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture. Experience working with students who have IEPs, 504 Plans, and accommodation plans. Experience working as part of a Specials Team preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. A love of learning, creativity, curiosity, and generosity of spirit. Professional Support and Growth Work closely with an instructional mentor to develop curriculum, instructional practices, and learning strategies. Receive ongoing coaching, guidance, and feedback throughout the school year. Have dedicated time built into the schedule for regular mentor meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and multiple instructional check-ins. Be supported in developing art integration strategies, classroom management approaches, assessment practices, and curriculum design.
