Senior Accountant

About this opportunity

Location: Dunwoody, Georgia 

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the business while helping drive process improvements and financial reporting accuracy. This individual will work closely with finance leadership and operational stakeholders to ensure timely month-end close, support project accounting activities, and contribute to the successful implementation of Workday ERP.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

• Support and actively participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with revenue and project accrual reviews to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Support the preparation of monthly reporting packages and financial analysis.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.

Cash & General Accounting

• Perform bank reconciliations and cash application activities.
• Support intercompany accounting and reconciliation processes across multiple entities.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and internal controls.
• Assist in maintaining accurate and complete financial records.

Project Accounting & Revenue Recognition

• Support project accounting activities across the business.
• Assist with revenue recognition processes and project financial reviews.
• Partner with operational teams to ensure project financial data is accurate and complete.
• Monitor project-related accruals and support forecasting activities.

ERP Implementation & Process Improvement

• Support Workday ERP implementation activities, including:
  • User acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Process documentation
  • Data validation and reconciliation
  • Training and change management support
• Identify opportunities to improve, streamline, and standardize accounting processes.
• Assist in developing scalable procedures and controls to support continued business growth.

Audit & Compliance

• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations for audit reviews.
• Support compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Who we’re looking for:

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

• ERP implementation or system transformation projects.
• Multi-entity accounting environments.
• Project-based accounting within professional services, construction consulting, engineering, or related industries.
• Strong ownership of month-end close activities.
• Revenue recognition and project accounting experience.
• Process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience with Workday or similar cloud-based ERP platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience supporting month-end close processes and account reconciliations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
