Litigation Associate - Environmental Law

Job Overview A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate with an interest in environmental litigation and related insurance coverage to join its Environmental Law practice in Carmel, IN. This role offers growth potential within the firm. Duties Represent clients in state and federal environmental litigation and administrative proceedings. Develop and implement litigation strategies, including case planning and motion practice. Analyze and litigate insurance coverage issues related to environmental claims. Advise clients on environmental liabilities and regulatory compliance. Conduct legal research and prepare litigation‑related documents. Collaborate with clients, technical consultants, and insurers on litigation strategies. Participate in mediation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. Stay current on developments in environmental and insurance coverage law. Contribute to business development through client management and networking. Requirements Bachelor's Degree and J.D. with strong academic credentials. 2+ years' experience in relevant legal fields. Knowledge of environmental statutes like CERCLA, RCRA, and the Clean Water Act preferred. Understanding of insurance coverage is a plus. Experience in discovery and depositions preferred. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to take initiative and problem‑solve. Education Bachelor's Degree, Juris Doctor (J.D.). Certifications Bar admission in Indiana or eligibility to obtain admission. Skills Strong legal research and writing skills. Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
