Job Description
Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (ED RN)

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in emergency nursing and have experience working with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics.

Shift Details

Shift: 10:30 AM - 11:00 PM. Please note that block scheduling is not guaranteed.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to all assigned patients in the emergency department.
• Manage a wide range of patient diagnoses, including stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
• Utilize specialty equipment such as Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun.
• Administer critical medications and drips, including pressors (Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine) and various other agents (Cleviprex, Cardene, NTG, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lido, Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, TNK, Heparin, Insulin).
• Participate actively in patient assessments and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide care for a diverse patient demographic, from newborns to geriatrics.
• Contribute to the support of sexual assault nurse examinations (SANE) as required.
• Assist with patient triage and the flow of care in a high-pressure environment.
• Floating to other departments may be required based on the needs of the organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency department setting, with pediatric experience preferred.
• Current, valid AHA certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC.
• Valid New York nursing license verified through NURSYS with active status.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), specifically EPIC, is required.
• A completed skills checklist matching the specialty is essential.
• Proof of travel experience is required for candidates living over 75 miles from the facility.

The emergency department is equipped with 64 beds, comprising 2 triage beds, 40 acute care beds, 6 super track beds, 2 trauma beds, 10 clinical decision unit beds, and 6 psychiatric beds.
