Financial Controller

We are partnering with a growing private equity-backed organization seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function and serve as a strategic business partner to executive leadership. This role is ideal for an operationally focused accounting leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and has experience supporting growth through acquisitions, system improvements, and process optimization. The Controller will oversee all aspects of accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, and team leadership while driving improvements in financial processes and scalability. This individual will play a key role in integrating acquisitions, supporting executive decision-making, and building a best-in-class accounting organization. Key Responsibilities Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and treasury accounting. Own and continuously improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Prepare consolidated financial statements across multiple legal entities and business units. Develop executive-level financial reporting packages, board materials, KPI reporting, and variance analyses. Partner closely with executive leadership to provide financial insights that support operational and strategic decision-making. Build, mentor, and develop high-performing accounting teams while creating accountability and scalable processes. Lead accounting integration efforts for acquisitions, including purchase accounting support, financial integration, and process standardization. Drive ERP implementations, upgrades, and accounting system enhancements to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency. Evaluate and strengthen internal accounting processes, controls, and workflows while maintaining a practical, business-focused approach. Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners. Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial planning initiatives alongside finance leadership. Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA strongly preferred. 8+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Divisional Controller. Experience leading accounting teams within private equity-backed organizations strongly preferred. Proven experience managing financial consolidations across multiple entities. Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, or business integrations. Demonstrated success leading or participating in ERP implementations or major accounting system upgrades. Strong understanding of operational accounting and financial reporting under U.S. GAAP. Experience preparing executive, lender, and board-level financial reporting. Ability to improve accounting processes while supporting a rapidly growing organization. Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional partnership skills.
