Director of Business Development

As Business Development Director, you will drive growth for our fund administration platform by sourcing, developing, and closing new client relationships across the alternative investment industry.


This role requires strong knowledge of fund structures, operational workflows, and the competitive landscape of fund services. The ideal candidate combines commercial acumen with a technical understanding of how fund administrators support managers throughout the fund lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

Sales & Revenue Generation

• Identify, prospect, and engage emerging and established fund managers across private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, real estate, private credit, and other alternative asset classes.
• Develop and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities from initial outreach through contract execution.
• Deliver compelling sales presentations and product demonstrations tailored to the operational needs of prospective clients.
• Negotiate commercial terms and partner with internal teams to structure competitive proposals.

Market & Client Strategy

• Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, manager fundraising cycles, and regulatory changes affecting fund operations.
• Build and nurture referral networks, including law firms, prime brokers, custodians, audit firms, and placement agents.
• Participate in industry conferences, events, and thought leadership initiatives to elevate brand visibility.

Collaboration & Internal Alignment

• Partner with client relationship management, onboarding, operations teams to ensure a seamless handoff from sales to implementation.
• Communicate client requirements and market feedback to drive product enhancements.
• Work cross-functionally to help create sales collateral and go-to-market strategies.

Relationship Management

• Serve as a trusted advisor to prospective clients by understanding their fund structures, portfolio strategies, and operational workflows.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with prospects not yet in a buying cycle, ensuring long-term engagement and future conversion opportunities.

Knowledge & Experience

Required

• 5+ years of experience in fund administration, fund operations or a related financial services role.
• Proven track record of generating new business and managing full-cycle sales processes.
• Strong understanding of alternative fund structures (e.g., LP/GP model, master-feeder, SMAs), fund accounting concepts, investor reporting, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Preferred

• Existing network of GP relationships across alternatives.
• Experience selling SaaS fund accounting or investor portal technology.
• Knowledge of fund operational due diligence (ODD) requirements.
