Payroll Accountant

SCI is seeking a Payroll Accountant II to support the accounting and financial reporting functions related to payroll. This is not a payroll processing role . The ideal candidate will have experience with the accounting side of payroll, including payroll reconciliations, journal entries, account analyses, month-end close activities, and payroll-related financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries to the general ledger. Reconcile payroll accounts, including wages, taxes, benefits, accruals, and deductions. Analyze payroll data and investigate discrepancies or variances. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to payroll accounting. Reconcile payroll information between Workday and the general ledger. Assist with payroll tax, benefit, and accrual account reconciliations. Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits. Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 2-5 years of accounting experience with significant exposure to payroll accounting. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations. Experience preparing journal entries and supporting month-end close activities. Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a large, multi-state or multi-location organization. Knowledge of payroll tax accounting and benefit accounting. Experience supporting audits and financial reporting processes. Selling Points: Hybrid Large international company. Very stable industry.
