Accounting Specialist

Job Description Robert Half is partnering with a reputable organization in Mill Valley, looking for an Accounting Specialist for a 2 month contract. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with finance leadership on reporting tools and operational priorities while also supporting day-to-day accounting operations. Responsibilities Manage a high volume of accounts payable transactions, including coding invoices, entering payment data, and maintaining accurate vendor records. Examine invoices and supporting materials to confirm approvals, correct account assignment, and compliance with established procedures. Investigate payment issues and resolve discrepancies by working with internal departments and external vendors. Collaborate with finance leadership to build and refine financial dashboards, reports, and performance measures within a new procurement platform. Analyze data from multiple financial sources, verify accuracy, and assist with testing and improving reporting outputs for management use. Contribute to fiscal year-end close activities by preparing schedules, reconciling accounts, and organizing documentation for audit review. Respond to audit and finance-related requests by gathering records, clarifying transactions, and assisting with special accounting projects as needed. Requirements At least 2 years of experience in accounting or finance support roles. Hands-on experience with accounts payable processing and account reconciliation. Familiarity with annual audit support, including preparing schedules and providing documentation. Ability to analyze financial information and identify inconsistencies or trends.
