Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (ED Holding / Float Pool)

Contract | Night Shift | 4x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15) | Expected 36–48 hours/week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to adult medical/surgical patients in an ED inpatient holding area, supporting patients awaiting inpatient bed placement
• Manage telemetry monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, for MS/Tele and PCU-level patients at target ratios of 1:6 (MS/Tele) or 1:4 (PCU)
• Float to Emergency Department and MedSurg areas as needed based on unit census and staffing requirements
• Perform and manage a broad range of clinical skills including blood product administration, PICC/peripheral line care, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
• Utilize facility systems including Epic (documentation), Pyxis (medication), and SBAR (communication)
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments; contract staff may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency in MS/Tele skills including telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, colostomy care, feeding tube management, renal failure care, phlebotomy, heparin and insulin administration, isolation precautions, non-invasive airway management, and use of Rapid Response Teams

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIHSS certification and experience with CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injuries, or traumatic brain injury
• Experience with IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, accessing ports, and central line blood draws
• Orthopedic trauma experience including total joint replacements and wound care/wound VAC
• Proficiency starting IVs independently
