Mind, Body, & Soul Counseling is seeking a dedicated Full-Time School-Based Mental Health Counselor to join our Special Education Program in Babylon, New York. In this role, you will provide essential mental health support to students with diverse special needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, Attention- Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and trauma-informed care. Work Environment\n

This position offers a remote work environment, allowing you to connect with students and educational staff in a flexible manner. Our infrastructure supports a collaborative atmosphere, where Mental Health Counselors work alongside educators and allied health professionals to provide integrated care. You will typically work Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts, rotating weekends, and on-call requirements. We prioritize work-life balance while ensuring that our students’ needs are met with care and attention.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for students presenting a range of special needs, identifying their unique challenges and support requirements.

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to address mental health issues while promoting emotional well-being and success within the school community.

• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions specifically designed for students facing ASD, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, ADHD, and trauma.

• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing therapeutic approaches that promote personal growth, emotional regulation, and effective coping mechanisms.

• Collaborate with educators, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to ensure comprehensive and holistic care for students.

• Offer immediate crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, demonstrating strong decision-making and responsiveness.

• Engage in psychoeducational initiatives, educating students and their families about mental health conditions, available resources, and coping strategies.

• Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation in compliance with the relevant legal, ethical, and organizational standards.

• Participate actively in team meetings, case conferences, and ongoing professional development activities to enhance skills and care approaches.

• Stay informed about current laws, regulations, and best practices within the mental health sector to ensure professional accountability and ethical standards.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The primary focus of this role will be students enrolled in the Special Education Program who face various challenges, including developmental delays, emotional issues, and behavioral problems. You will work closely with children and adolescents, providing tailored therapeutic support in a nurturing and constructive manner. The population also includes students who may have experienced trauma, requiring sensitive engagement and trauma-informed strategies to facilitate healing and growth.

Qualifications\n

• A current and valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).

• A Master's degree or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology.
\n
• Two years of post-licensure experience with a focus on children and adolescents preferred.
\n
• A comprehensive understanding of mental health disorders and trauma-informed care methodologies.
\n
• Proficiency in conducting mental health assessments and formulating appropriate treatment plans.
\n
• Experience in delivering both individual and group therapy, employing a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques.
\n
• Strong crisis intervention skills with the ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
\n
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Sound judgment, adherence to professional boundaries, and a solid ethical foundation.
\n
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer proficiency.

Preferred Experience\n

Ideal candidates will possess direct experience working within school settings, particularly with students who have special needs. Familiarity with educational frameworks and individualized education programs (IEPs) will further enhance your capability to support students effectively. A background in crisis management, therapeutic program development, or advocacy for mental health awareness within educational environments is highly valued.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The salary range for this position is between USD 60,000 to 104,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
