Boeing Pre-Hire Opportunity Program (PHOP) – Aircraft Assembly Structure Mechanic The Boeing Company, Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), invites current contract labor teammates to join our 787 production teams as an Aircraft Assembly Structure Mechanic in North Charleston, South Carolina, working variable shifts. This role provides an exciting opportunity within a dynamic manufacturing assembly environment. Team members will leverage prior experience and training to complete daily assigned tasks efficiently, interpreting drawings and detailed work instructions to meet defect‑free standards. Primary Responsibilities Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring protection for yourself and colleagues. Maintain rigorous quality standards, complying with regulatory and company requirements. Collaborate within a team, supporting teammates and seeking/providing assistance as needed. Read, interpret electronic technical work instructions, drawings, and specifications. Operate various mechanical lifts (ladders, tiger, snorkel lifts) safely. Use hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as screwdrivers, ratchets, power screwdrivers, multimeters, continuity testers. Apply chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints, and special finishes following specifications. Inspect work quality and check for foreign‑object debris. Work around energized sources, maintain safety near electrical hazards. Perform physical tasks including lifting/carrying up to 35lbs, push/pull jobs up to 45lbs, climbing, balancing, kneeling, bending, reaching overhead, and walking. Operate and maintain all required safety equipment, such as confined‑space and fall‑protection certifications as required. Maintain a drug‑free workplace in compliance with Boeing policies. Required Qualifications Contract labor mechanic with credentials: DAJX, DCTL, DEJ1, or DCTJ. Successful completion of the PHOP program and Foundational Training Flow. Strong English proficiency, ability to read and interpret technical documents, and to participate in training and assessments. Experience using computer applications (Internet, email, Microsoft Office, or specialized software). Demonstrated ability to follow detailed work instructions and interpret blueprints, drawings, or specifications. Background in manufacturing, technical, or mechanical work, including equivalent education or military experience. Physical capability to perform variable shifts, walk/stand up to 8hours per day, climb ladders, bend, twist, kneel, squat, lift up to 35lbs, and handle hazardous chemicals with proper PPE. Confined‑space and fall‑protection certification, if required. Physical Demands Variable shifts (first, second, or third). Work involves walking, standing, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, kneeling, squatting, lifting up to 35lbs, pushing/pulling up to 45lbs, and exposure to high‑hazard chemicals. Benefits Competitive base pay ranging from $54,000 to $64,500, variable compensation opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, life and disability insurance, paid time off, and flexible spending accounts. Eligibility for benefits depends on geographic location, date of hire, and collective bargaining agreements. Additional Information Location: North Charleston, South Carolina; 100% onsite.
