Field Service Engineer

Salary: $87,360 - 95,680 per year Requirements:

• We need a bachelors degree or college diploma, plus at least 5 years of experience in the water treatment sector, with broad knowledge of structural, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, piping, welding, and civil engineering notation.
• We require a valid passport and drivers license, along with the ability to travel extensively, including roughly 70%–80% travel across North America and internationally.
• We are looking for deep expertise in water treatment technologies such as reverse osmosis, ion exchange, and thermal systems, with proven success in startup, commissioning, and process optimization.
• We expect strong water treatment chemistry knowledge and the ability to apply engineering principles to troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action.
• We need someone who can work independently and remotely with cross-functional teams, drive projects forward with limited oversight, and consistently meet deadlines.
• We require advanced technical capability with analytical instruments, calibrated and hand tools, and safe handling of aggressive chemicals such as acids and bases.
• We look for working knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and safety procedures, plus the physical ability to perform hands-on instrument service and equipment handling.
• We value strong customer relationship skills, the ability to balance stakeholder priorities, present clearly to varied audiences, and explain complex technical topics in a straightforward way.
• We require computer proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheets, networking, and database tools for documentation and reporting.

• Preferred experience includes commissioning, construction, or service work.
• Preferred education includes a bachelors degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
• Preferred hands-on mechanical experience includes reading and interpreting drawings and working with water treatment equipment such as pumps, valves, instrumentation, relief valves, regulators, and pneumatic systems.
• Preferred electrical experience includes hands-on work and interpretation of drawings, especially for electrical panels and water treatment equipment.
• Preferred training includes Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
• Preferred operating experience includes evaporators, crystallizers, RO systems, micro-filtration, clarification, and conventional filtration.

• We participate in model reviews, engineering design meetings, and safety-in-design reviews to support accessibility, maintainability, and operability of process equipment.
• We conduct factory acceptance testing for control systems with clients and their designated representatives.
• We identify operational issues, gather and assess data, and draw well-founded conclusions to improve performance and judge design feasibility.
• We apply mathematical methods to water treatment chemistry, geometry, chemistry formulas, test validation, budget analysis, and T&M contract cost tracking.
• We act as the construction liaison between design engineering and construction teams during Water Treatment Plant erection.
• We resolve equipment alignment and plumb adjustment issues during installation.
• We coordinate outside vendors and suppliers to ensure services and materials meet project specifications and performance standards.
• We maintain a strong safety focus so work is executed in line with technical requirements and our safety standards.
• We develop and carry out commissioning schedules and performance plans for Water Treatment Plants.
• We commission treatment plants by verifying that process equipment and control systems operate to specification.
• We perform PLC/HMI tasks such as IO checkout, system networking, program upload/download, ladder logic and function block interpretation, code troubleshooting, and simple logic writing.
• We provide technical guidance to customer representatives on installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at customer sites.
• We create standard operating procedures and log sheets to document and monitor equipment performance.
• We develop and deliver classroom and hands-on training on the operation and maintenance of process equipment.
• We perform after-market services, including site inspections, equipment inspections, and operator training.
• We prepare timely, accurate technical reports for customer records and future reference during outages.
