Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a rewarding educational environment! Several full-time contract opportunities are currently available for skilled professionals eager to assist Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within dynamic school settings. These roles provide meaningful impact across elementary and middle school programs, supporting students’ communication access and facilitating an inclusive classroom experience.
Openings include:
- Middle school, Deaf and Hard of Hearing program (Cary, IL): Full-time, 35 hours/week, through 5/21/27.
- Elementary mainstream (St. Charles, IL): Full-time, 35 hours/week, through 5/30/27.
- Elementary, self-contained classroom (Oswego, IL): Full-time, 35 hours/week, through 5/30/27.
Qualifications:
- Minimum score of 3.5 EIPA with valid ISBE certification, or a 3.0+ EIPA plus IBSE approval.
- Previous experience in school-based or educational interpreting is strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of American Sign Language and effective interpreting strategies for academic environments.
- Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, related service providers, and educational staff.
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and a commitment to supporting students’ diverse communication needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in classroom and school settings.
- Facilitate communication between students, peers, staff, and faculty.
- Support student access to curriculum, activities, and social interactions.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Collaborate with educational teams to create a supportive, accessible learning environment.
