Senior Payroll Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Coordinator to join our payroll team in New York City. This role is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a deadline-driven environment, and has strong knowledge of payroll systems and best practices. Responsibilities Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for multi-state employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Review payroll data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, bonuses, commissions, and deductions. Audit payroll registers and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll processing. Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Respond to employee payroll inquiries regarding earnings, taxes, deductions, and timekeeping. Partner with Human Resources and Finance to ensure payroll changes are accurately reflected. Process garnishments, tax levies, child support orders, and other payroll deductions. Reconcile payroll reports, benefit deductions, and general ledger payroll accounts. Assist with quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and payroll tax reconciliations. Support payroll audits and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications 4+ years of payroll experience, including high-volume, multi-state payroll processing. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred. Experience with payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, UKG Pro, Workday, Paycom, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict payroll deadlines. Strong communication skills and a high level of professionalism when handling confidential information. Preferred Qualifications Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus. Experience with payroll tax filings and reconciliations. Experience supporting payroll for organizations with 500+ employees. Familiarity with timekeeping systems such as Kronos, UKG Dimensions, or Workday Time Tracking. Salary up to $95,000 , based on experience. Annual performance bonus.
