Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform robust design (e.g. Design for Six Sigma and design for manufacture) desirable;
- Coordinate failure analysis or problem solving activities concerned with investigating and resolving customers’ reports of technical problems;
- Material selection, Project tracking;
- Mechanical design exposure to kinematics, dynamics, material properties and behavior, and structural analysis;
- Coordinates project scope, design, and deadlines with Project Managers and Senior Engineers;
- Robot reach studies in 3D to confirm no Tooling/Robot interference;
- Assists with start-up, running, trouble-shooting, and ?debugging? of new and existing machine designs in the shop environment;
- Presenting your work to the larger team and explaining your ideas to people with different technical backgrounds;
- Work with purchasing to expedite materials when needed;
- Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system;
- Design standard process equipment solutions which have application across the product lines;
- Multi-task, be a self-starter, work under pressure and meet deadlines consistently;
- Direct projects to on time, on budget delivery with required quality;
- Prepare customer approval drawings;
- Construction Administration.
Requirements:
- Must be able to work within a team environment;
- Proficiency in 3D integrated plant modeling design software tools;
- Fluent in Solidworks and GD&T;
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with Solidworks;
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office;
- Experience with additive manufacturing methods such as 3D printing;
- Minimum 3 years related experience;
- 3+ years’ experience as Mechanical Designer, Engineering Technician, or similar;
- Knowledge and experience in mechanical design process, from needs identified to product roll-out;
- At least 10 years hands on experience in the field of fiber optics;
- Must be detail oriented and outstanding time management skills;
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant educational degree;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Solution/outcome oriented in an environment with minimal supervision;
- Experience designing piping and tubing systems.
