Technical Designer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Technical Designer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and issue technical proto packages for use in costing and product development;
- Create and issue standard graded specs in preparation of bulk production;
- Measure/prepare fit samples for approval and lead fit sessions;
- Other duties as assigned;
- Utilize software, digital photos, and technical sketches to effectively communicate with vendors domestically and globally;
- Conduct quality/returns/fit analysis of repeat items and present results/solutions to peer groups;
- Establish and maintain fit and construction standards to ensure brand consistency and quality;
- Create CADs from scratch in proportion of the garment;
- Resolve and communicate fit and construction issues to International Buying Offices and factories within the development and production timelines;
- Track fit approval and sample process;
- Collaborate with Design and Product Development teams to determine fit and aesthetics;
- Create and maintain detailed tech packs with garment measurements, graded specs, technical sketches, and bill of materials;
- Castings for base size fit models and scheduling fittings;
- Enhance fit and quality through review of customer comments, competitive analysis, and conducting fit symposiums;
- Work with designer and sample room to develop first prototype.
Requirements:
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication;
- 2+ yrs. – experience in men’s apparel technical design/construction/ pattern making;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and problem solve;
- 5 years of tech design expereince;
- Prototype new functionalities;
- Fluent with illustrator;
- One or more games shipped as programmer or technical designer;
- Support designers in designing/implementing AI & behaviors;
- Comfortable with physics and mathematics;
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Write/design gameplay specifications for coders;
- 3+ years industry experience as programmer or technical designer;
- Support designers in tuning and balancing key aspects of the game;
- Significant Python scripting experience, basic C++ proficiency;
- Working experience giving high and low level design and technical feedback to other designers (as well as receiving critical feedback).
