Linux Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Linux Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- NAS Configuration in Client side only;
- Vendor Co-ordination & follow-up with Hardware Vendors for the troubleshooting and the maintenance activities;
- Operating System Hardening;
- Upgrade Firmware of various components;
- Configuration and Administration of xen/kvm;
- Configure Multipathing software on server to access redundant storage paths;
- Upgrade the OS, VxVM, HP Service Gurad using offline and Live methods;
- Build knowledge of atleast one cluster technology (RHCS/HP Service guard/VCS/RAC);
- Addition or removal of nodes to a cluster;
- Backup and restore of OS.
Requirements:
- System Event collection and analysis;
- Excellent project management, project scoping, troubleshooting, problem resolution, documentation and customer management skills required;
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph;
- AWS: 5 years (Desired);
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification;
- Ability to implement ServiceNow Discovery on Linux computers and clusters;
- Managing Linux Integration with Active Directory;
- VMware: 5 years (Required);
- Linux System administration automation; prefer puppet, ansible;
- Ability to lead a small team of engineers to see a development project through to completion;
- Knowledge of build and manage the Disaster Recovery setup in any one of the cluster technology;
- Good knowledge of Oracle RAC cluster in Linux;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field;
- Awareness of ITIL-3 Process;
- Knowledge of Cluster Package Build, Stop, Start, Failover, Failback and other maintenance activities.
