Sr. SQL DBA Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Sr. SQL DBA to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and resolve complex customer issues, escalating to other departments as identified;
- Develop system specifications, technical documentation, requirements, KB Articles;
- Prioritize workload and resolution to meet service level agreements;
- Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time;
- Work on complex projects either independently or as part of a team;
- Provides training and mentors junior staff members;
- Tracks and recognizes knowledge opportunities; recommends and perform additional training as needed;
- Work with internal and external customers on resolving complex SQL Server and related feature issues to ensure optimal system performance;
- Monitor and analyze performance of complex system components and make recommendations;
- Work closely with development and conversion teams on issue resolution and process improvement;
- Participates in identifying and recommending complex technology solutions for clients;
- Formulates guidance and training of policies, procedures and standards relating to database management for both internal and client staff.
Requirements:
- Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory;
- Ability to organize and plan work independently;
- Excellent verbal and written communication;
- Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams;
- 5+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required;
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment;
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server;
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools;
- Must be a US citizen and be eligible for a Public Trust clearance;
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models;
- Flexible, team player, “get-it-done” personality;
- MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus;
- Available for occasional escalations after hours.
