Underground Laborer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Underground Laborer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Complete duties as assigned;
- Work safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers and dump truck;
- Work with specialized equipment including jackhammers, upright compactors, air compressors and other necessary tools;
- Assist equipment operators, hand digging, locating underground obstructions as needed;
- Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards;
- Compacting trenches;
- Setting conduit;
- Potholing for existing utilities;
- Flagging;
- Spotting operators.
Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. multiple times during a work shift;
- Roadside construction experience a plus;
- Able to meet attendance & punctuality requirements;
- Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping and kneeling;
- Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers;
- Comply with drug / alcohol free policy;
- Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions;
- Able to complete jobs safely and timely;
- Hard working with strong work ethic;
- Ability to perform simple math and comprehend onsite staking Lot/Block, Cut/Fills;
- Willingness and ability to learn additional skills;
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions;
- Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy;
- Display endurance, the ability to work in all weather conditions;
- Ability to obtain a DOT medical card.
