Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Assistance with ADL’s and IADL’s;
- Supervision of aides and other health care team members;
- Administering oxygen by mask or cannula;
- Provide educational in-services to enhance our associates’ knowledge, and for better quality ofservice to our residents;
- The ability to multitask and demonstrate adequate time management skills is an integral function of this position;
- Monitor transcription of medication orders onto MAR’s for accuracy;
- Monitor patients’ vital signs;
- Observe patients’ progress throughout treatment;
- Performs laboratory procedures from specimen collections, as authorized;
- Provides effective communication to patients/clients, their family members, team members, and other health care professionals;
- Collect samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum from patients for testing and performs routine laboratory tests on samples;
- Assist in preparation of nursing, MA and support staff schedules and assures that adequate coverage is provided to providers and clinic sessions;
- Ensures patient weights are performed and documented for patients as ordered;
- Effectively operates and troubleshoots commonly utilized equipment;
- Participates in rounds when appropriate.
Requirements:
- BONENT or CHT certification preferred or as required by state regulation;
- IV certification required if required by state regulations;
- Current license by the State Board of Nursing, as a LVN;
- Completed vocational nursing program;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- 1 year of experience as an LVN (must be within the last 3 years);
- BLS certification;
- You will need to clear a background check;
- You will need to have a current California Nursing License with no restrictions;
- Occasionally climb ramps or stairs or use foot controls;
- Fingerprint clearance by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) – paid for by Dungarvin;
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus;
- Must have fingerprint clearance through the State Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations;
- Ability to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 50 lbs;
- Must have at least six months experience in developmental disabilities preferred.
